The Sacred Voyage stops facilitating Ayahuasca retreats in The Netherlands
1 October 2019
The Sacred Voyage has decided to immediately stop facilitating retreats with Ayahuasca in The Netherlands BUT we will continue to work with the beautiful plant combination Voyahuasca (Mao-inhibitor and Psilocybine (truffles), 100% legal.
Despite the over 15 years received feedback of our participants in which is described how life changing and healing and so many positive effects have been achieved, we do feel it's time and necessary to stop working with the Mother Plant. The negative publicity concerning Ayahuasca (and a deadly incident), the law and more strict enforcement of the law (1 October Supreme Court Ruling in Santo Daime church) are the cause of making this decision. Most important is that we don't want to endanger anyone attending our retreats neither our team and ceremonial leaders nor our own beautiful organization, ourselves and our family.
Of course we continu factilitating our beautiful work to (re)connect people with their essence, their heart & soul. Only without Ayahuasca in The Netherlands. We do have so powerful other methods to reconnect with our beings like breathwork, voice expression, dance, Soulretrieval, Core Wound and of course Voyahuasca (which is completely legal).
Our Inner Child, Rebirth of the Soul retreats & Soul Coach trainings in Portugal will be continued.
This means that all our planned Ayahuasca retreats in The Netherlands will be converted to Voyahuasca retreats lead by Lars and/or Tanja Faber or one of our ceremonial leaders.
We would like to thank everyone who has decicated their heart and soul in working, supporting, and guiding at our Ayahuasca retreats in the Netherlands. A special thank you to our great team of guides and ceremonial leaders. And thank you to all participants who have experienced one or more of our Ayahuasca retreats. Thanks to your feedback we were able to improve our work and setting. We have all made the world a bit better and have planted seeds for growing consciousness. Let's continue doing so but now without Ayahuasca. She will continue to do her work elsewhere.
We hope to meet you again in one of our retreats with Voyahuasca or without medicin plants. In October we will be producing a film about the work we do without de plant medicins. Work that has a deep, healing and profound effect, just like working with plant medicins. As soon as this film is ready we will announce it in our newsletter and on facebook.
Lars & Tanja Faber
For more than 14 years we work succesfully in our practice with different plant medicins. From 1 October 2019 we stopped working with Ayahuasca. Instead we start working since Summer 2019 with Voyahuasca. This is 100% legal in The Netherlands.
Voyahuasca: what can you expect?
Voyahuasca exists from the jungle vine (Banesteriopsis Caapi), the most important ingredient from Ayahuasca. This plant works as MAO inhibitor and opens the body. In the Amazone this process is seen as the most important part of the healing properties of the plant medicin. Caapi is absolutely legal. As alternative we also work with Syrian Rue (Peganum Harmala) which is also legal in the Netherlands.
In a Sacred Voyage we use as a second component the magical truffles (ninõs sanctos). Another beautiful and powerful substance. Together with the Caapi or Syrian Rue we make the right setting for deep profound Voyages guided safely by our experienced ceremonial leaders and guides.
The effects of the drink can be incredibly intense - physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Users often experience an energetic cleansing and working through and resolving of traumatic experiences. People also often discover their own place in the world.
Set and setting
The right mindset (expectation, intention, motivation, state of mind) and setting (circumstances in which Voyahuasca is drunk, guidance, ritual, music, and so on) largely determine the outcome of your experience. The Sacred Voyage provides a safe setting for your journey inwards. You can read extensively about set and setting in the free-to-download book, The Sacred Voyage. We ask you to read this book in preparation of a weekend and/or ceremony with us.
A Voyahuasca ceremony is particularly effective for people who have already undergone a degree of personal development of their lives. People who are prepared to come face to face with both their light and shadow sides. Experience with, among other things, bodywork, meditation, mindfulness, focusing and other techniques in which attention is directed towards the inner processes for a long period is almost a condition to truly benefit from the Voyahuasca experience. In our practice’s approach and methodology, we additionally emphasise being able to focus on physical sensations, combined with shamanistic techniques. Additionally, it is desirable for you to “carry” your own process, and to be friendly and respect towards your own feelings and those of others.
An open mind, the capacity to keep your attention on your inner world for a prolonged period, a loving attitude towards yourself and others, and the need for a deep experience with the potential to transform are a few of the characteristics that people participating in our sessions share.
Guidance during your Sacred Voyage
Our care for you doesn’t end after a weekend or retreat. We remain available for you if you have questions concerning aspects that have opened up after a weekend or retreat. And if you want to explore matters more deeply or are confronted with areas that you feel unable to deal with, we also offer individual coaching sessions. For this, we have two coaches from our team - Lars Faber & Joannie van Rijswijk - available who can guide you in personal coaching sessions in this.

Prepare for the ceremony with the free e-book, The Sacred Voyage
The book, The Sacred Voyage, is about rediscovering your own essence, but also how to deal with entheogenic substances in an inspired and beneficial manner. You can download The Sacred Voyage book for free.
Ayahuasca has been traditionally used for healing and divination in shamanistic traditions. Shamans explain that Ayahuasca has the potential to help you (re)discover your essence; a process which is transformational for both your body and your mind. Over the years, we have been able to guide thousands of people in this special search for their essence, which many believe goes much further than the more common forms of therapy in the West.
For our healing weekends and retreats, we use a combination of Syrian Rue (Peganum Harmala) and Mimosa Hostilis. This variant of Ayahuasca is also called Jurema or Anahuasca. Over the years, in working with thousands of participants, we have experienced and discovered that this composition generates the best results for our work and participants within the setting of The Sacred Voyage. Within our shamanistic setting (Shamanic Warrior) and during the Magical Self Three-Day Retreat, we use Banesteriopsis Caapi and Mimosa, Caapi and Chachruna or Caapi and Chaliponga.
Contraindications for the use of Ayahuasca
The use of Ayahuasca cannot be combined with various forms of medication. Medicines such as antidepressants, beta blockers and blood-pressure reducers are contraindications, because Ayahuasca contains a MAO inhibitor that does not combine with these medicines. When in doubt, we always ask you to consult your attending physician. Psychiatric indications, such as borderline, schizophrenia and (a disposition towards) psychosis are also contraindications. People being treated (not of their own initiative) by a psychologist or psychiatrist must first discuss their desire to participate in an Ayahuasca ceremony with their attending psychologist or psychiatrist and provide a written statement of advice prior to participating in a ceremony.
Medical indications, such as heart disease and high blood pressure, are contraindications for the use of Ayahuasca.
Pregnancy and lactation are also contraindications for the use of Ayahuasca.
